Project NGC 7538: VLA, NH3 line emission, continuum toward NGC 7538 N & S. Sources in the NGC 7538 dataset are all offset positions to look for dense NH3 gas at different positions in a star forming region. If you are just going to image one field, then pick source 'D' - there is a bright continuum source in the field and faint NH3 line emission. A summary of the source structure in all positions is given below: position C: 23:14:02.48 +61.27.14.86 J2000 Nothing obvious from a quick image. position D: 23:13:43.82 +61.27.00.18 NH3(1,1) emission at the field center - very faint Bright continuum point source and associated nebula at the top of the image near 23:13:45.5 +61.28.10 position E: 23:13:34.64 +61.27.26.44 Nothing obvious at the field center position F: 23:13:35.76 +61.28.33.66 Might be some diffuse stuff near the image center. Hard to tell Same bright continuum source in far left of the image 1 day of observations with multiple VLA archive files: ------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------ Project AP314 AP314_A950519.xp1 AP314_A950519.xp2 AP314_A950519.xp3 Detailed descriptions of spectral windows observed: --------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- Spectral Data descriptions: 2 (2 spectral windows and 2 polarization setups) ID Ref.Freq #Chans Resolution TotalBW Correlations 3 23699.2MHz 63 118.157kHz 6151.97kHz RR 4 23727.3MHz 63 118.157kHz 6151.97kHz LL *NOTE: Following the vlafiller stage, this data should have the following lines executed within AIPS++: x:=table('n7538.ms',readonly=F);ddi:=x.getcol('DATA_DESC_ID'); ddi[ddi==0]:=2;ddi[ddi==1]:=3;x.putcol('DATA_DESC_ID',ddi);x.flush();x.done(); *NOTE: When calibrating this dataset, calibrate one spectral window at a time (spwid=3 then spwid=4).
